Please also read our Terms of Service, which set out the terms governing the Services.

Information Diggin Up Collects
Diggin Up collects information about you, including information that directly or indirectly identifies you, when you use the Services. The sources from which we collect this personal information fall into three categories: information you provide, information we collect automatically, and information we collect from other sources. For example, based on how you interact with Diggin Up and the Services, we may collect information when you add plantings, notes, tasks, or other content using the Services, sign in with a third-party account, subscribe to Diggin Up Gold, or use our website climate tools. Specific categories of data collected and received are outlined here.
Accounts and Authentication
You may use certain website tools without creating an account. When you choose to sign in — for example, to subscribe to Diggin Up Gold or to sync data across devices — we collect account information such as your name, email address, and profile image from your sign-in provider. We do not receive or store your third-party password. Your use of third-party sign-in is subject to that provider's own terms and privacy policy.
We also collect account and session identifiers, and may collect your IP address and browser or device user-agent in connection with your session. When you are signed in on the website, we use essential session cookies to keep you authenticated.
We may send you transactional emails related to your account (for example, when your account is created or deleted) through our email service provider.
Information Storage and Sync
Information you create in the mobile app is stored on your device and may also be transmitted to and stored on our servers in order to provide the Services, such as syncing your information and enabling recovery. When you are signed in, information stored on our servers is associated with your account. When you are not signed in, garden data remains on your device.
When you delete your information or account through the Services, we delete the corresponding information from our servers, subject to the retention practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Payments (Diggin Up Gold)
If you subscribe to Diggin Up Gold, payments are processed by Stripe. We receive subscription status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and related billing metadata. Stripe collects and processes your payment card information directly; we do not store your full card number. You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe Customer Portal from /account. Billing records may be retained after account deletion where required for tax, fraud prevention, payment disputes, or other legal obligations.
Photos and Identification
When you use plant identification or disease diagnosis features in the mobile app, you submit photos that are sent to third-party service providers who process images on our behalf to return identification results. We do not use your photos for advertising. For questions about how submitted images are handled, please contact us.
Entries and Personalizations
Entries and personalizations are collected when you engage with the Services, such as adding a location, creating plantings, recording tasks or notes, or otherwise using the Services.
Location Information
We may collect and process location information when you use the Services. In the mobile app, precise geolocation requires your consent, which you may always revoke in your device settings.
On our website climate tools (frost date, hardiness zone, and disease risk lookups), you may enter a ZIP code or choose to use your browser’s geolocation feature. That location is stored in your browser’s session storage for the current tab session so the tool can remember your selection. We may send location or ZIP information to geocoding service providers to resolve coordinates. We do not continuously track your location on the website.
We do not sell or share location information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Technical Information, Cookies, and Log Files
We collect information from your browser, computer, or mobile device, which provides us with technical information when you access or use the Services. This technical information includes device and network information, log files, and, when you are signed in on the website, essential authentication cookies.
California users should know that we do not include sensitive personal information in cookies. We do not use cookies for advertising or for cross-context behavioral advertising.
The Services use log files and hosting observability. The information stored in those files may include IP addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and request metadata. IP addresses may be linked to session IDs and account identifiers when you are signed in.
Other Information
We may collect information directly from you or through our service providers, such as when we collect your feedback through surveys.
